How Your Subconscious Makes You Smash It Or Suck At Sales With Dana Wilde





Dana Wilde joins me on the Salesman Podcast to discuss the mindset side of sales. We start by looking why mindset isn’t hippy nonsense and why it’s an integral part of becoming a superstar salesperson.


Subconscious mind and your beliefs

I ask Dana to explain how the concious mind works and what this means for salespeople. We start to look at how to manipulate it and make it work in our favour rather than hold us back.

“I’m a middle of the road salesperson. Just think of all those things we automatically accept about ourselves, they are all just beliefs that we practice “

We discuss how everyone comes into the world with a clean subconscious plate but by a very young age we all have different ideas, belief systems and success can be predicted quite accurately at this point.


Positive beliefs

This isn’t all negative, you can hack your beliefs to have the opposite effect. Believing deep down and convincing your subconscious that you’re a killer salesperson, the best in the company, the best in the industry even can have a dramatic and instant effect on how much you sell.


Reticular Activating System

Next we move onto the reticular activating system which matches what you physically see and notice in the outside world to the thoughts you have in your inner world. The classic example of this is when you decide that you like a certain type of car and then instantly you start seeing it everywhere!

“It’s full time job everyday is to sift through the mucky stuff and bring to our awareness in the outside world, things that already match our inside beliefs”

We wrap up the show by discussing how we can leverage this system to point out opportunities and successes that we might be missing or not even realising that we’re having to reinforce that we’re great salespeople, which in turn makes us better salespeople.
